Lloyd Svendsbye -- I Paid All My Debts

Lloyd Svendsbye has authored a chronicle of his ancestors’ life as Norwegian immigrants who settled in Western North Dakota. The book, I Paid All My Debts, was published in September 2009 by Lutheran University Press. This highly accurate depiction of the struggles of two families during the early 1900’s, the Dust Bowl years and the Great Depression is a story of perseverance, integrity, and faith.



Dr. Svendsbye is a highly revered theologian and educator who lives in Minnesota. He served in various capacities at Concordia College, two Lutheran seminaries, St. Olaf College, and Augustana College where he served as President from 1987 until his retirement in 1992. Dr. Svendsbye has received numerous awards in the education field and is a member of several Norwegian-American organizations.
